The Reshape the World Challenge sponsored by FidelityLabs wrapped up last month. Here’s how it all went down.
At FreshBooks, our mission is to reshape the world for self-employed professionals and their teams. But this can’t be done alone.
So in May—with the help of our sponsors Fidelity Labs—we launched the Reshape the World Challenge. Here, we encouraged business owners across the U.S. to tell us how they share our mission of reshaping the world for freelancers and the self-employed.
The reward? $30,000 divided between 3 winners, virtual workshops, networking opportunities with industry experts, and free exposure.
With an overwhelming number of entries, we announced our winners on June 12th. In alphabetical order the winners are: CircleLink Health, Croissant and ShearShare. (You can read a little more about each business below!)
Celebrating the Reshape the World Winners in Durham, NC
Now, the fun wasn’t over just because the challenge was. For one of the prizes, our 3 winners were flown out to Durham, NC, where they had the opportunity to demo their businesses and network with top business experts.
We welcomed some notable executives from Pendo, Cloudfactory, American Underground and the Freelancer’s League of North Carolina. We were even able to sneak in a baseball game with our winners!
Get to Know the Businesses Reshaping the World for the Self-Employed
CircleLink Health
Co-Founder: Raphael Anstey
City: Stamford, CT
CircleLink is enabling freedom and remote work opportunities, so nurses can avoid 90-minute daily commutes and be in control of their lifestyles. The business connects self-employed registered nurses to older Americans with multiple chronic conditions, who need telephone health coaching on behalf of their doctors.
CircleLink serves 30+ medical practices, dozens of doctors and nearly 3,000 patients. By providing a platform that does all the administrative work—scheduling, time-tracking, and health record aggregation—nurses can focus on what they do best in serving their patients.
Croissant
Founders: Nisha Garigarn, Dave Idell, Adam Chew and Zoltan Szalas
City: New York City, NY
Croissant is an affordable way to access luxurious and beautiful coworking spaces that inspire great work. The app allows freelancers, small teams and remote workers to bounce between coworking spaces by the hour, and with a single monthly membership.
Members use Croissant because they need an inspiring environment to stay motivated and productive. They want to be part of a community of like-minded people without being stuck at a coffee shop or home office.
ShearShare
Founders: Courtney Caldwell and Tye Caldwell
City: Dallas, TX
Did you know 40% of salon space goes unused every day. So ShearShare monetizes this empty space by enabling freelance stylists to rent space to work in cities all over the world.
As more stylists are becoming location-agnostic and opting out of traditional long-term lease contracts, an increasing number turn to freelance. ShearShare is replacing cold calling and Craigslist as the industry standard for how stylists find locations to work on demand.
With ShearShare, it’s a win-win for the community: Salon owners double their revenue on unused space, and freelance stylists save thousands per year in overhead costs.
